StayFocus:a tool to reduce procrastination at work
One of the most important problem that reduce productivity in jobs that used computers with internet connection are the visit to personal web´s, not related with the project in you are working. For personal websites I mean personal mail, newspapers,… but above all the social networks like Facebook or Twitter.
For those people who use Google Chrome, there is an extension that can help us with this neglect habit and its name is StayFocus.
The objective is to block websites previosly indicated by the user. It work by this way: once Stay Focus is installed, open a website, for example Facebook, and you click on the blue circle icon that appear at the top right of the screen. This button show you the name of the application and down give the option to block this website for a defined time. The default time is 10 minutes. By this way, you can set a time amount to dedicated for view these websites each day. When the time is up, the website is locked and you can´t access to its contents.
You can even configure in a opposite mode, is the Nuclear Mode. That mode block all the websites when you spent the time except those that are included in a list of allowed sites (for example google). In fact if you pass the time the application say to you “Shouldn’t you be working?” 😉
